Grayson has had the last two weeks off school and has been busy around the house making shelves and bike racks and cleaning and kind of driving me crazy.
GRAYSON:What's for dinner, Diana?
DIANA: Uh whatever you want
GRAYSON: What is there?
DIANA: I dunno
GRAYSON: What do you want?
DIANA: I don't care
GRAYSON: So I guess I am suppose to cook then? Fine I will but I really think you should be a little more prepared for these things.
DIANA: (gasp) You mean to tell me that while I have been at work all day wiping butts and noses, you have been sitting around here for 8 hours just waiting for me to get home so you could decide to cook dinner! You couldn't look in the cupboard and find something edible to prepare? Do I really have to do everything?
GRAYSON: Uh yeah
DIANA: MAKE YOUR OWN D@*# DINNER!
Don't get me wrong...it was nice to have him home at lunch and doing dishes and laundry too but I just feel the need to entertain him and since I work full days again I am pooped when I go and pooped when I get home. So I am semi-excited for him to go back to school and be preoccupied with that.
We did have some fun though. Last weekend, despite falling temperatures (which I must have missed when I was watching the news!), we went camping. I figured I had such a good experience earlier in the summer in Seaside that I would try my luck again. And I am glad I did because it reminded me again how much I LOVE not camping!
We drove out along the Oregon Coast to a campsite called Cape Lookout just a few miles from Tillamook. Last time we camped, Seaside was like a minute away and after we set up our tent we went out for dinner and shopped and walked on the beach. This time we were a little farther away from civilization. After we (I mean Grayson) set up the tent and I changed into pants and a sweater, we went for a walk on the beach and then roasted weenies. After I experienced an insane amount of smoke inhalation (that stuff just follows me everywhere) I had to trek 100 miles to the nearest bathroom. It was then that I started to worry. I was getting cold and the bathroom was kinda far away and it was getting dark and there were not very many lights and I was getting cold some more. I warmed up a bit making s'mores but by 9:00pm I was bored stiff and cold stiff so I went to bed. It was so early but I kinda fell asleep to the sound of ocean waves crashing. I woke up two hours later in a damp tent with the urge to pee so I pulled out the small flashlight and convinced myself that serial killers don't like the cold. I stumbled out into the fog and spent 30 minutes looking for the bathroom (I passed it twice). Needless to say I was freezing when I got back in the tent but Gray was fast asleep so I complained to myself quietly in my head. Three hours later I was up again with my dang bladder. I sat for an hour trying to decide whether to go to the potty or use napkins and pee in a bush close by. Gray was up then since I was not very quiet and he listened to me complain some more. I finally decided I usually like to sit down to pee so once again I hiked to the bathroom and warmed my tush in the building. By then my head hurt and my toes ached and I was getting restless. For the next two hours I moaned and whined while Grayson told me to pack up so we could leave. Finally I did settle down again after realizing I would rather get frost bit then deal with the wrath of an uprooted camping lover. I suppose I survived the night by dreaming of hot cocoa and saunas. In the morning we quickly got ready and I am sure I beat a record packing up my stuff. I was so so tired but we decided to go to the cheese factory in town. It was fun and very interesting. We also went to Cape Meares and took pictures from inside a lighthouse and then walked the beach at Oceanside. I actually kind of enjoyed the scenery and overall I would give the weekend a C+. We are sort of lucky to live close to the coast even if I do freeze my buns off everytime we go...

You guys are too funny! Love the dinner conversation, I would have said the same thing, seriously. Sorry about your camping experience, doesn't sound like much fun especially when the bathroom is FOREVER away. Poor you!
next time you need to take an animal tranquilizer before sleepy time and pee in your pants to keep warm through the night. much love!
looks like fun! Miss you!
Oh my gosh, it is so beautiful there! Next time we come up you'll have to take us camping! We love camping and haven't been on the beach here yet. Are you still coming for thanksgiving??? I really want you guys too! (please don't expect good cooking, this is me we're talking about) but it will be fun. As for Christmas, we will be here. But my mom and Steve are coming down! Let me know the days you'd be here for Thanksgiving so I can get some time off work. (Please come! I need every excuse I can to get time off work)
LOL! That sounds horrible! At least it was gorgeous when you were there!
glad you're back...i've missed you and you will learn to love camping! Dad's even convinced me we could go next summer for one night in the Waterton townsite: babysteps.
