You Get That From Your FATHER!Visiting family is always interesting. I find that I learn more about myself than anything else and I just had to giggle from this past weekend experience.
You need a little more info to understand why I found it so funny. When Gray and I were first married he was perfect and still is most of the time. But you know what I mean...lovey, kind, affectionate, and flirty. This went on for a while and I was so impressed that he never complained about anything I did or didn't do. It was a few months later though when he finally cracked. In a calm but firm voice Gray asked me why in the world I left the cupboards open all the time. I had no clue what he was talking about and dismissed the comment. But then I noticed a drawer open in the kitchen when I woke up in the morning and another time my shin hit the bathroom sink cabinet that was ajar. I started to realize that I just left the cupboards open after putting things away or getting things out. It is never more than one or two doors but still I wondered. I finally saw what Gray was 'complaining' about. I tried hard to remember to close them but now not a day has gone by that there is at least one cupboard left open. I can almost guarantee that if I walked into the kitchen right now a door would be open. Once I even left the dishwasher open and totally tripped right over it and got smacked in the face with leftovers stuck to a pan. Nasty! I remember thinking to myself that maybe Gray was on to something...
I then went home at the end of April and for the first time noticed that someone in my house left the cupboards wide open just like me! It was hilarious because I finally had an excuse for this odd behavior. My dad is super helpful around the house and usually takes care of the dishwasher so every now and then a cupboard is left open. No biggie. I am sure my mom does it too but I could finally justify it.
Fast forward to Friday. Grayson and I spent Memorial Day Weekend in Victoria, BC with my dad's mom whom I affectionately call Nana. She lives in a little quaint condo close to the ocean and has done quite well on her own. My Papa died a couple of years ago and at first it was really hard for my Nana cause she was so lonesome but then she made some good friends and started babysitting cats and dogs and is much better now...
Back to my point. Nana's kitchen is not huge and while cleaning up and helping with things I kept running into open drawers and cupboards. I am talking like six or seven doors wide open. It was crazy like something from a horror movie. I finally confessed to my Nana that I noticed this and explained how I did it and so did my parents. I couldn't help but laugh. She looked at me with a very serious face and said in her no nonsense voice, "Well dear, it looks like you get that bad habit from your father!"

"hilarious" but true! Love your take on things....
So funny, I wish I could say the only thing I do that annoys my hubby is leaving the cabinet doors open!
Ha ha. That is way funny!
I open tons of cupboards and drawers when I'm cooking and serving, but it drives me crazy so at the end I go thourgh and close them all.
That's a great story! That's something that drives Sean a little nutty too - so much so that before we were even engaged he mentioned that he doesn't like it when cupboard doors get left open. Good thing he loves me so much!
So funny! I'm still finding little habits that I have picked up from my parents.
Ha! Travis is always getting after me for leaving cupboard doors open. I rarely run into them, but he always does. I wonder why we do that...
JHaha! That's funny.
Wow, Dylan does that too and it drives me nuts. It always reminds me the 6th sense.
So my dad is just great and happened to show my Nana this post!! She was ticked that I wrote something about her! Sorry Nana...but it was hilarious!
