My to do list for May consisted of the following things:
1. Write a book
2. Ride a camel
3. Rescue an endangered animal
4. Visit a white sandy beach in Hawaii
5. Clean the bathroom
Needless to say I only accomplished 4 out of the 5 items on my list. I mean, come on, cleaning the bathroom is such a bore.
But in all seriousness I DID visit a white sandy beach...in Hawaii! And guess what?
I LOVED IT!
I have been around the world a few times (or not) and this was by far the best place ever!! As for my tropical experiences, The Dominican Republic was nice but we arrived just hours after a hurricane hit the island so it was a bit rainy for our honeymoon. And while our cruise was great, the beaches were busy and Mexico is kinda, um, dangerous. I guess I just accepted the mediocre beaches and pushy vendors along with food that was mostly average as the norm.
Then I went to Oahu and I began to believe that there really is a heaven on earth!
Really it was the best vacation I have ever been on. My sis lives (lived) in Laei (pronounced LA-EE-EH) where the temple is and while the north shore is considered a little ghetto it also means that the beaches are BARE during the week and the attractions are the opposite of busy. We went to Pearl Harbor (and may or may not have had our ferry struck by lightning) and snorkeled at Shark's Cove. I hit some sick gnar waves near Pipeline (famous for 30-40 ft waves in the winter) and saw where they filmed LOST. We did the whole Polynesian Culture Center and saw a guy who climbs coconut trees for fun. We also watched their Island Canoe Pageant and laughed at the guests who tried to copy the Polynesians. But I could talk forever about my Hawaiian adventures so instead I will just show you a few shots of the most spectacular place on Earth! (Sorry Disneyland)

So if these pics didn't convince you to book a flight to Hawaii, then you're blind...lol
Believe you me, this is PARADISE!

wish i was there RIGHT NOW. i'm glad you had fun diana, it was great to spend a week in the sun!
Reasons to go to Hawaii:
1. I speak the language.
2. I know how to use the money.
3. I can drink the water.
4. The weather is great even when it's not.
5. It's kinda like heaven on earth.
Okay.... WHY didn't I go with you?? Being poor really sucks. And having kids/responsibility, that really sucks too. How's it back in Portland? I just put you're order in so your jewlery should be here in the first week of June.
it looks so beautiful! I want to go to heaven on earth!
Ummm that is because you have never been to Africa. I still claim that as heaven on earth, plus that is claimed to be where man was born.
